Cretan Corner: Exquisite Cretan Products in Maleme, Chania
Odysseas Elytis, one of Greece’s most significant poets, was born in 1911 in Heraklion, Crete. He once said: “If you deconstruct Greece, you will be left with an olive tree, a vineyard, and a boat. That means: with these, you can rebuild it.”
At “Cretan Corner”, this phrase is our inspiration. We continue our grandfather’s tradition and carefully select only the finest Cretan products from small producers who prioritize quality and authenticity.

Family olive oil
The cultivation of olives by our family.
Our family’s olive cultivation started about 300 years ago, where our great-great-grandparents were among the first residents of Leventohori village, which was later renamed Livadia. Our family’s olive groves are located in the wider area of the village of Omala and Maleme, Chania.
Omala is a settlement of the Garage Community of the Municipality of Mylopotamos in the Regional Unit of Rethymno in Crete. According to the 2011 census it has 10 inhabitants. It is located 39 km east of Rethymno, at an altitude of 350 m.[1] The village has been declared a traditional settlement. The village church is dedicated to Agios Dimitrios, which was first renovated in 1742.[2]
Maleme is a village and seat of the homonymous community of the municipality of Platania in the regional unit of Chania, Crete. It belonged to Kydonia Province. It is 16 km from Chania and administratively falls under the municipality of Platania of the prefecture of Chania.
